Glenshee Climb – The Cairnwell

We headed up to one of Scotland’s best known Scottish hill climbs – Glenshee Climb – The Cairnwell which starts from the Spittal of Glenshee up into Glenshee pass

Check out our video below!

Glenshee Climb – The Cairnwell

With a rolling start, it is hard to find your rhythm, the constantly changing gradient demanding absolute focus on your effort. From there it climbs gently for a couple of kilometres with a few flatter sections, before you hit the wall with just under 3 kilometres to go. This last section averages a leg-stinging 9%, and seems to mock you, for it only gets steeper as you climb, topping out at 15% a couple hundred metres from the summit. The Glenshee Climb – The Cairnwell was the perfect location for our test run with our new Met Rivale 2021 helmets. The flatter sections allowed us to really get a feel for their aerodynamics while riding at speed, and when you’re in the depths of pain during those final minutes of the ride any slight imperfections in comfort and fit become highly noticeable.
