BIKE LIGHTS – 2021 MX: LINK + CERBERUS LINK

Bike lights are an extremely important feature of kit that every cyclist and triathlete should want to have on their bike! It is NEVER safe to ride your bike at night without proper lights. When you are dealing with traffic while riding on the road being visible is your number one priority and allows you to have piece of mind.

It is actually a legal requirement in the UK to ride with a white front light and red rear lights.

With all that said here is an introduction to the 2021 new MOON LIGHTS range!

We have had a chance to try and test the new 2021 MX: LINK front light and CERBERUS rear light. Here is a low down on what they have to offer:

ABOUT

The MX: LINK + CERBERUS LINK released by Moon Sport are a pair of wireless connected lights that are powerful and reliable. They offer multiple power levels allowing other road users to see you clearly and are made to withstand all conditions of weather – great for those challenging winter rides!

Another added bonus to the lights is their longevity and USB charging ports. It gets tiresome having to constantly head out the door to get those small batteries that die frequently. What the USB charging ports give you is comfort knowing that if you have charged your lights to the time you require, they are not going to run out whilst out on a ride.

Contents of the MX include: Handlebar mount, Garmin/Wahoo insert, USB charging cable.

Contents of the Cerberus include: Rubber Pad, 3X rubber holding straps, charging USB cable.

VALUE FOR MONEY?

For what both lights offer as a pair the MX: LINK + CERBERUS LINK are very good value for money and both do the job required.

The extendable run times, light weight and aerodynamic fitting shape of the two lights should also make them popular for racers in both triathlon and cycling including time trialists because as of January 2020 this year rear lights in CTT time trials were made compulsory.

With that said, the lumens from the lights are at the lower end of the spectrum for rural riding so this could be seen as a negative. Furthermore, the buttons can be quite difficult to press when wearing gloves and the rubber bands are something that can easily go out of sight.

OVERALL

Verdict – 8.5/10

Due to the CERBERUS having 270 degree visibility this offers something that other bike lights can’t and increases your safety from behind. The MX is not an eyesore and offers a professional look fitting in nicely under the your Garmin/Wahoo, whilst still shining brightly to full effect. The wireless connection between both lights also adds in a subtle piece of contentment having to only press one button rather than two!
