Battle for Super League Triathlon Championship Continues – Jersey 2021

This Saturday 18 September, Jersey will be the third stop of four in the 2021 Super League Triathlon Championship Series, meaning a jostle for positions ready for the finale in Malibu, which will crown the champions.

In the men’s Championship France’s Vincent Luis will hope to preserve his lead of 29 points following victory in Munich last week. Britain’s Jonny Brownlee and New Zealand’s Hayden Wilde complete the top three in the standings with 27 points apiece.

The women’s standings are led by Britain’s Jess Learmonth, who has secured 30 points from the opening two races Fellow Briton Georgia Taylor-Brown and United States’ Katie Zaferes have 28 and 24 points respectively.

The competition in Jersey will take place over an enduro format.

The Enduro is considered the most brutal format of all. Requiring endurance and tactics, the Enduro is a non-stop burst of nine back-to-back triathlon disciplines without any breaks. The easiest way to think about it is swim-bike-run repeated continuously three times in a row.
A focus on speed is a key.

There are two Short Chutes up for grabs – the first for the fastest athlete over the opening swim and transition and the second for the first athlete to complete the opening bike stage and transition (all taken across the mount lines). Short Chutes are to be taken on the third and final run.

After swimming in the spectacular Elizabeth Marina, the athletes have to run up a steep ramp into transition. The bike course is one of the most challenging and technical on the circuit, demanding power surges and world-class handling to navigate. Spectators pack the course for the run before a spectacular finish line.

Racing commences as follows:

Women’s Enduro starts 11.00 local time (12.30 Eastern Standard Time, )
Men’s Enduro starts 12.45 local time (13.45 Eastern Standard Time,)
