World Triathlon Cups – more events added for 2021

The World Triathlon Executive Board have announced further dates and events to the ever-growing calendar of 2021 World Triathlon Cup season.

The Japanese city Miyazaki will be hosting a World Triathlon Cup twice in the same year with the city’s postponed 2020 World Cup being carried over into 2021. World Triathlon is working closely with several National Federations and event organisers to have more events added to the calendar in 2021 with a mix of new cities as well as established one’s.  On 25-26 Sept,  Weihai (China) will again join the select group of cities hosting a World Triathlon Cup event, with the best triathletes in the world competing over the sprint format in the magnificent setting of the Halfmoon Bay Triathlon venue that includes an energy-zapping 2km climb,

Unfortunately, the effect of the pandemic means that some events that have been part of the World Cup calendar for many years, like Mooloolaba (Australia), New Plymouth (New Zealand) or Madrid (Spain), won’t be able to take place in 2021.

If all goes to plan 2021 will see a busy calendar schedule with the rearranged Olympic Games in Tokyo followed by the Edmonton Grand Final, Tokyo Paralympic Games, Almere Multisport World Championships and Bermuda Sprint & Relay World Championships.
