The women’s Super League team headed to Bologna for the Trofeo Bologna Race on Zwift that included a QOM Summit Finish

The women’s Super League team consisted of 5 athletes:

  2. Georgia Taylor-Brown (Great Britain)
  3. Taylor Spivey (USA)
  4. Leonie Periault (France)
  5. Ilaria Zane (Italy)

As the race began all the Super League athletes were safely in the large pack at the start of the race. By the time the women reached the start of the climb for the first time, the pace was on and gaps immediately formed with 2X Olympic cyclist Ashleigh Moolman Pasio (South Africa) taking to the front and creating a 9 second gap alongside Lou Bates (Great Britain) by the top from a small chase group of 7 athletes.

The chase group quicly closed the the gap to the two leaders and a group of nine riders maintained a gap of 30 seconds.

By the halfway mark the only Super league athlete within touching distance of the front pack was Zane who was in the chase pack around 45 seconds back. Taylor Brown and Beaugrand were 2 minutes and 11 seconds back at this point. Spivey and Peirault where more than 3 minutes behind.

As the riders started the climb for the second and final time that would also lead to the finish it was Moolman who was able to pull away putting out between 390-400 watts at times and take the overall win with Bates coming in just behind her.

Zane was the best Super League Women’s finishing in 26th place.
