Jan Frodeno returns!
Three-time Ironman world champion Jan Frodeno will be returning to racing this Friday at Challenge Miami. He confirmed this on his Instagram account saying “Made it just in time for a sunrise 😉 the craziest trip to a race yet”.
As the clear favourite in the men’s race, he will nonetheless have his work cut out as the likes of Lionel Sanders, Ben Hoffman, Tim O’Donnell, and Matt Hanson are just a handful of the pro men who’ll be looking to be first across the line.
As with Challenge Daytona in December, this race will also take place on a NASCAR track, the Homestead-Miami Speedway where it will be even harder to pick a winner for the women’s race as the line-up is stacked with top pro’s such as Lucy Charles-Barclay, Anne Haug, Paula Findlay, Meredith Kessler, and Heather Jackson.
The pro race distance covers : a one-mile swim, a 39-mile bike, and a 10.5-mile run and with a $50,000 prize purse on offer that pays 10 deep with $6,600 for the winner, $4,550 for second place, and $3,225 for third.
Should you crave to watch a bit of pro racing action live you can tune into Challenge Miami’s Facebook page for $2.99 to watch livestream coverage. The age-group races—which take place on Saturday and Sunday—will also be live streamed on Facebook (for no cost). The women’s pro race is scheduled to start at 1 p.m. EST (6 p.m. GTM) with the men’s following at 3:15 p.m. EST.
