IRONMAN European expansion continues with IRONMAN 70.3 Poznań
Ironman continues to expand its 2022 event schedule in Europe with a new event – IRONMAN 70.3 Poznań, Poland.
The addition of Ironman 70.3 Poznań to the 2022 global Ironman race calendar comes hard on the heels of their recent announcement of two other new events – Ironman 70.3 Sandnes in Norway and Ironman 70.3 Vouiliagmeni in Greece.
Poznan is Poland’s 5th largest city and one of its oldest. Situated halfway between Warsaw and Berlin, it combines a unique heritage with rich cultural offering a lively atmosphere
The inaugural editions of IRONMAN 70.3 Poznań will take place on September 4th 2022.
The event organiser alluded that athletes can expect a stunning swim-bike-run course’ with the swim leg in Lake Kierskie home to World and European Championships in canoeing and rowing races. The course will have a flat, fast bike course with the run taking place in the city centre of Poznań surrounded with by the Renaissance-style buildings in Old Market Square with the finish line within the Race Village located at the MTP Poznań Expo.
Race Director Michal Drelich said “We are glad to add the IRONMAN 70.3 Poznań … to our IRONMAN Poland portfolio. It’s another milestone for the modern Polish triathlon scene but also a tribute to its history as the swim will take place in the Lake Kierskie, home to the very first triathlon competition in Poland which was held in 1984.
IRONMAN 70.3 Poznań will offer 30 qualifying slots to the 2023 IRONMAN 70.3 World Championships taking place in Lahti, Finland on August 26-27, 2023. General Registration for the Polish event opens on Tuesday, January 18, 2022.
