Collins Cup – Does anyone have a chance against Team Europe?

It’s the week of the Collins Cup. The Match Draw revealed. Does anyone have a chance against Team Europe?

Everyone will have their own favourites, their own opinion of who is better than who.

Is the athletes balance right for each race particularly as bonus points are awarded for time gaps:

Winning by
2 mins – 0.5pt
4 mins – 1pt
6 mins – 1.5pt

on top of the race scoring system of:

1st place – 3pt
2nd place -2pt
3rd place – 1pt

The team with the most overall points from the 12 race matches will claim the spoils of The Collins Cup and bragging rights as the most powerful athletic force in the sport. See Race Schedule below.

Interesting that each athlete will be equipped with a communication device so that they can stay in contact with their team captains, much like the Tour de France, what dynamic will this play out in the races?

The biggest burning question for TriNation – has someone hooked USA’s Taylor Knibb up with a TT bike for her race? She really is a Bike Beast of Triathlon as witnessed in her cycling masterclass at the World Triathlon Championship Finals Edmonton and her IRONMAN 70.3 debut in Boulder  just seven days after winning Olympic silver in Tokyo. She is an extraordinary cyclist on her aero road bike with short bars but would love to see what kind of speed she can put down on a proper TT bike. It appears her Functional Threshold Power, which is said to be the maximum amount of power that a rider can sustain for an hour, is off the Richter scale compared to her rivals.

The event will also allow HUUB to showcase its new Team Europe’s Aero-Heat-Matrix suit as seen in the cover photo of this article. Nice!
