Cardiff Triathlon reveal new half-iron distance option in 2022

Always Aim High Events reveal a new half-iron distance option in the 2022 Cardiff Triathlon calendar. The new Cardiff middle distance race will run parallel with the British National Sprint Triathlon Champions on June 26th 2022.

The race to be known as the ‘Legend’ to be held in the Welsh capital will take you through the iconic Cardiff Bay and lends itself perfectly for a spectacular endurance triathlon experience, for both racers and spectators alike.

Always Aim High Events, co-founder Tim Lloyd in a recent interview with TriNation contributor Tomas Land said We make events so everyone can do them, from super sprint to middle distance, meaning there’s something for everyone. If I had to highlight something, it’s the uptake of entries over longer distances. I’d say even though the growth is across the board, in all demographics, we are seeing more and more people tackling the longer races.”

After an unprecedented couple of years for the events industry which has seen the postponement of the Cardiff Triathlon for two consecutive years, Always Aim High Events have not just been sitting around during Covid but working hard behind the scenes planning a spectacular week-end event. The event will include not only the new half-iron distance race and National Sprint Championships but will also act as World Triathlon Age Group Sprint Distance Qualifier together with races for all levels that will include super-sprint, sprint and Olympic distance options.

The Middle-Distance Race Circuit:

The race will consist of exhilarating 1.2 miles (1.9k) swim in Cardiff Bay around the former dockland area south of the City Centre before heading out on a 56 mile (91k) fast bike route on open roads through Wentlooge flat lands to Newport before turning around and completing a further 3 laps of the closed road section. The 13.1-mile half marathon run is a spectator-lined out and back run route to be completed 5 times giving great opportunity for family and friends to cheer on the athletes.
