‘Award Winning Triathlon Weekend’ in ‘Flaming’ June

Whilst triathletes have been starved of racing since the lockdown the appetite from competitors to compete is as strong as ever. And what better way to kick-start the season off than with a fun-filled family trip to an ‘Award Winning Triathlon Weekend’ at the beautiful Bowood Estate in Wiltshire to be held on 26-27 June 2021.

While virtual events during lockdown have allowed athletes to maintain performance with ‘fun’ they do not capture the true feeling of racing in a live triathlon event. Although, not set in stone the “roadmap” for easing Covid-19 restrictions indicates that all restrictions are targeted to be lifted by the 21 June 2021, with all legal limits on social contact removed.

Set in the heart of the Wiltshire countryside, Bowood House & Gardens, home of the Marquis and Marchioness of Lansdowne, is nestled within 100 acres of beautifully landscaped ‘Capability’ Brown Parkland. With an ideal spectator-friendly layout, this historic venue combines stunning scenery, with a welcoming and friendly event experience and a perfect family day out.

There are 2 main distances available: Super Sprint and Sprint plus junior Tri Star Triathlon with different distances for young aspiring triathletes. Please see tables below for a breakdown of each distance.

The course starts with a fresh open water lake swim in the lower part of Bowood Estate. You will swim a single loop of the still waters between the clearly marked buoys in the lake. The cycle route will take you on a spectacular journey through the Bowood Estate past Bowood Golf Course, Osprey Farm, and including Lord Lansdowne’s’ private driveway, which is inhabited with game fowl.

To finish, you will head out onto a scenic garden run taking in the beauty of your surroundings passing the cascade and Doric temple.

The TIMETABLE for the event is as follows:

SATURDAY AM – Tri Stars, Super Sprint

SATURDAY PM – Super Sprint, Sprint

SUNDAY AM – Sprint

SUNDAY PM – Sprint, Super Sprint

Bowood offers a fantastic weekend out in Wiltshire for all the family. Famous for one of the UK’s most extensive Adventure Playgrounds, children are guaranteed an adrenaline-fuelled visit. Younger children will enjoy the undercover fun in the Soft Play Area.

So, if you’re looking for a week-end break for all the family in the month of ‘Flaming’ June, then this awesome triathlon weekend with its idyllic lake swim and closed road course makes this a great race for triathletes itching to compete again and also for new comers to the sport looking to take on a challenge.
