World Triathlon Championship Series 2021 starts next week at Yokohama
Some of the world’s fastest triathletes will be lining up for the tenth edition of WTCS Yokohama, Japan on May 15 to compete head-to-head in the first race of World Triathlon Series 2021, as they attempt to be crowned World Champion.
There will be an armada of British triathletes vying for a podium spot in this Olympic distance race with Jonny Brownlee, Alex Yee and Tom Bishop lining up in the men’s race and Non Stanford, Beth Potter and Sophie Coldwell for the women. With a final men’s Team GB spot still up for grabs both Alex Yee and Tom Bishop will be hoping to impress the selectors.
Double Olympic champion Alistar Brownlee is not on the start list so one assumes he is saving his best form for the WTS event in Leeds, UK on June 6 in seeking selection to win a third consecutive gold medal for Great Britain.
Chasing the elusive Olympic spot on the GB team listen to Tom Bishops outlook as he chats to the TriNation crew.
For its 13th season, the World Triathlon Series will feature eight stops, getting underway once more for one of the most established races on the circuit, Yokohama, before the focus shifts to Europe and the fifth edition of the AJ Bell World Triathlon Leeds. Then onto the bustling streets of Hamburg before heading to the eagerly anticipated Canadian event in the beautiful city of Montreal.
