Triathlon Taunton held in Glorious Weather – Hello! it’s good to be back

Not all Triathlon races held over the Bank Holiday were International, just ask the folks in Taunton, Somerset. The domestic scene seems to be starting to get back into full swing – albeit under the guise of a ‘covid bubble’ – as some 200 enthusiastic triathletes of all ages and backgrounds soaked up the glorious bank holiday weather to take part in the Taunton Triathlon on Saturday 29 May.

The event run by Race Nation Events was a novice friendly event that started with a 250-metre swim in the pool at Taunton School’s sports club followed by a bike route that took athletes on a 21km reasonably flat bike ride passing through beautiful villages of Somerset. The final challenge was a 5.7 run based around the old market town of Taunton finishing outside Taunton Schools neo-gothic main building and iconic clock tower that overlooks the green swathe of playing fields at the front of the school

Spare a thought and give a cheer for Race Nation Events as this was their first-person open-air event for 560 days. While nerves would have been jingling that all would run smoothly the organisers and volunteer marshals as always came up trumps to make this a fantastic event for all to enjoy.
