Grant is a member of the UK Sport Lottery Funded World-Class Performance Squad and until his recent move to Bournemouth, trained for many many years in Stirling, and previously studied Mathematics at Stirling University.

Grant won the World University Games triathlon in Nyon, Switzerland, in August 2016. As well as winning the individual title, he helped Great Britain win the team title. His best ITU World Triathlon event result was third in Karlovy Vary in August 2019. He also enjoyed five top-ten finishes in 2018, celebrating a bronze medal at Alanya.

In his Junior days, In 2011, Grant’s performances in the GE Strathclyde Park Triathlon and the Blenheim Triathlon gained him selection for the GB squad. He won a bronze medal at the ITU world junior championships in Hyde Park in 2013, the same year he recorded several Junior ETU medals including silver in the Tiszaújváros ETU Triathlon Junior European Cup Final.

He attended his first Commonwealth Games at Glasgow (2014), racing as part of Team Scotland that placed 7th in the Mixed Relay. Two years later, Sheldon secured his first senior ETU gold with Great Britain’s Mixed Relay team at Lisbon.

Finally, in the 2018 Gold Coast Commonwealth Games he finished 7th in the individual event.
