Richard Murray Goes Sub 14 in lockdown 5km
The triathlon season should be well under way by this point in the year with three scheduled WTS events due to have taken place already, however, due to the ongoing pandemic the world of triathlon has come to a standstill.
Many triathletes have tried to fill the gaps with adaptations to training methods, which include swimming in paddling pools and self made gyms.
South African triathlete and two time Olympian Richard Murray decided to put his training that would have been going towards the original date of the Tokyo 2020 Olympics (now moved to 2021) to use by producing a Sub 14 minute 5K (13.37).
Murray stated on the morning of the attempt that he “hadn’t done all that much speed work recently” but was “looking forward to seeing how fast he could go”
