PTO tops up pro prize money for both the French and Spanish Long Distance Triathlon Championships.

The Professional Triathletes Organisation (PTO) is to support both the French (FFTRI) and the Spanish (FETRI) Triathlon Federations in their upcoming 2021, Long Distance National Triathlon Championships. 

PTO will join both Federations and the event organisers in contributing towards the professional prize purse of which the PTO will themselves add an additional €13,000 to the French Long Distance Triathlon Championships race on 6 June, set to take place in Cagnes-Sur-Mer and organised by Skoda Tri-Games, and €12,000 to the existing prize purse of €30,000 for the Spanish Long Distance Triathlon Championship to be held on May 30 that is part of the 140.6INN International Triathlon. 

PTO’s involvement now means that these events will now offer points to PTO professional triathletes towards qualifying for the upcoming Collins Cup. The much-anticipated inaugural PTO Collins Cup, an innovative event that will see the top triathletes in the world competing in three teams across a middle-distance multi-race format. The Collins Cup is set to take place on 28 August, 2021, at the x-bionic sphere in Šamorín, Slovakia’s 

The French Long Distance Triathlon Championship Pro Race takes place at Cagnes-Sur-Mer. The middle-distance race will be situated in the stunning Cote d’Azur, and will comprise of a 1.9km swim, a 93km bike with an elevation gain of 1740m, taking in the renowned Col de Vence, and finishing with a 20km flat run along the French Riviera seafront. 

Race Director of Skoda Tri-Games, Sylvain Lebret says:  “Cagnes-Sur-Mer is a beautiful location and it will be great to see PTO Professionals battle it out to earn qualifying points for The Collins Cup.” 

Charles Adamo, PTO Executive Chairman commented “It is an honour to be part of an event that not only puts on display the resilience of those committed to supporting our sport, but also gives our PTO Professionals in Europe the chance to race and earn points towards Collins Cup qualification”.

The Spanish Long Distance Triathlon Championship Pro Race is to be held in one of the sport’s training hotspots, Girona, Spain. The full-distance race is set on the Costa Brava coast and features a 3.8 km swim in Platja d’Aro, followed by a 180 km bike with 2,100 m of climbing and a four-lap 42.2 km run along the Platja d’Aro promenade.
