Covid-19 A Minor Blip For New Project 3 Training Centre

Recently opened state of the art training centre Project 3 is working around the current unfortunate circumstances of Covid-19. Project 3 is starting ‘Project Breakthrough’ on Monday April 27th which will be a progressive, structured training week available online while lockdown restrictions are in place.

Sessions will go live from Monday and will include run sessions, strength and conditioning, workout of the week video as well as a Weekend Challenge.

About Project 3 Launch:

Glasgow based training group Project 3 opened their new facility at Ballantine Ave. Hillington (01.03.2020) The training Centre was officially opened by Commonwealth Games Triathlon Bronze Medallist Marc Austin. Marc has been a big influence in getting the Centre open and the Project 3 team will be working hard to support young athlete development.

The facilities are open to sports enthusiasts of all ages and abilities. Sessions on offer include Strength and Conditioning classes, Mobility and Flexibility, Core and Balance and HIIT Circuits sessions as well as “Turbo” sessions ( a bring your own bike indoor cycling class). There is an Endless Pool which can be booked for 1 to 1 Swim Technique and 1 to 1 Video Analysis sessions. Showers and a changing area are also available.

The Centre is easily reached from the M8 and Hillington East train station is a short walk away offering direct trains to the city centre. The new QEU Hospital is within 10 mins drive.

It is anticipated the centre, which has inspiring artwork by renowned local artist gazmac, will enhance training for athletes of all levels across Scotland. The centre should give them the opportunity to be their best in great surroundings.

Crawford Whyte who is behind the centre and Project 3 stated “The centre will be a space for like minded athletes to come together and be the best they can be – to create a community that turn up humble, encouraging and hardworking”

Crawford, who has over 10 years of triathlon coaching experience launched Project 3 three years ago and is excited about the idea of now having a permanent home for the training sessions.

Crawford is joined by Craig Coull who has vast knowledge of the demands of triathlon and was awarded Triathlon Scotland’s Performance Development Coach of the year 2017. He has supported people of all ages as a fitness instructor and personal trainer and also currently works with Stirling Masters Swim Squad.

Regular attendee at sessions Jude Austin said of the new centre and Launch Day “Fantastic place … Loved catching up with all the good people in triathlon. A real feel good afternoon. Great concept which will be a huge success. “

The centre will also be a base for Thursday evening run sessions- while the groups ever popular Monday Run Session shall remain based at the Riverside Museum on Pointhouse Road.

Project 3 are supported by Big Bobble Hats and McTaggart Construction. They are working in partnership with Zone 3, Endless Pools, Garmin, Argon 18 Bikes, Monton Sportswear, Mactrition Nutrition and Dimitris Sergakis Physiotherapy.
