Olympic medal hopefuls given first chance to race next month
Next month will see Britain’s leading Olympic triathletes line up in the Queen Elizabeth Olympic Park in London next month to race in a SLT Arena Games Triathlon powered by Zwift.
Jonny Brownlee, two-time Olympic medallist has already been selected for Team GB for the Tokyo Games, will be joined by the likes of current ITU World Champion Georgia Taylor-Brown, who is also in the British team for this summer’s Olympics. In all, the first 10 athletes for the event have been announced, including Alex Yee, who still hopes to take one of the remaining Olympic slots. Race slot have also been allocated to long-course triathletes such as Ruth Astle who in November 2020, smashed the bike course record at Ironman Florida. Ruth has also been a guest on the TriNation Podcast.

Provisional starting line-up.
Men: Jonathan Brownlee, Alex Yee, George Goodwin, Ben Dijkstra.
Women: Georgia Taylor-Brown, Sophie Coldwell, Beth Potter, Ruth Astle, Kate Waugh.
In the starting line-up is Scotland’s Beth Potter, who competed for Britain in the 10,000metres at the last Games. Bear in mind, when the 2020 British Triathlon Squads were announced at the end of 2019, Potter was not on that list, despite having won the ETU Championships earlier in the summer. That shows her dedication to proving her potential in her new sport.
The race will take place in the capital on March 27 with athletes competing in the usual three triathlon disciplines, with the swim taking place in the Olympic pool while both the bike and run elements of the event will be on static equipment using Zwift.
And Super League Triathlon CEN Michael D’hulst said: “We are continuing to grow the SLT Arena Games Powered by Zwift and make it part of Super League’s yearly offering of exciting professional triathlon…Bringing an event to London is a big step for Super League. I can’t wait to see so many Olympic hopefuls race at full throttle”
