Home to London 2012′s Olympic rowing events Dorney Lake grounds lend themselves to being an ideal backdrop for this closed road event comprising of a 1.8km swim, a 60km, 12-lap fast and flat bike and a 15km, 3-lap fast and flat run around the lake. PTO Professionals can also earn World Ranking points and move up the standings with a good race in advance of The Collins Cup.
It appears Lucy Charles-Barclay has a busy race schedule in the month of June following her announcement that she is racing at the AJ Bell World Triathlon Championship Series in Leeds on June 6. Lucy is listed as one of the top attractions at the Dorney Triathlon on June 13 as well as being listed to race the Outlaw Half Nottingham on 20th June and the Outlaw Half Holkham on 4 July, another race recently supported by the PTO.
On hearing the news Lucy Charles-Barclay who is 4th on the PTO ranking list commented, “It’s amazing the continued support the PTO is giving to local races. This massively reduces the risk of travel and gives me the opportunity to race in the UK in front of a home crowd which I love to do.
Team Europe Captain, Chrissie Wellington, will also be at the race and will be looking for standout performances as she scopes athletes for her captain’s picks for Team Europe. “I am very excited to watch this race as well as spot any PTO Professionals who could make the grade as a possible Captain’s Picks for Team Europe,” Wellington says. “There are so many great British and European athletes, it will be a tough decision.”
Andy Salmon, CEO of British Triathlon added, “British Triathlon welcomes PTO support of The Dorney Triathlon as a racing opportunity for professionals in the UK, with not just prize money, but also a qualification opportunity for The Collins Cup.
PTO Executive Chairman Charles Adamo exclaimed “Given the UK’s continuing restrictions on travel we are very grateful to find opportunities to support local and regional races, our national federations and our triathlon community,”
