Gyms and swimming pools to reopen on July 25
Gym and pools are finally set to reopen their doors in England from July 25 after four months lockdown. The Government has given the green light and Guidance for the reopening of sports facilities has been published including cleaning regimes, social distancing and protection for staff. In summary the rules are as follows:
THE RULES
- Limit on the number of people in the gym or pool
- Time slot booking system
- Spacing out of equipment
- Enhance cleaning
- Outdoor exercise where possible
- Shower and change at home wherever possible
As gyms and swimming pools were originally part of step three of Government’s lockdown exit plan they were on track and ready to reopen at the start of July, so expect them all to be ready by July 25, with a deluge of cut price promotions to get people back in. David Lloyd Clubs are already off the mark, offering a saving of £242 with a three month trial membership at £199 with a reopening date of July 25.
Reopening of gyms and swimming pools will be great news for millions across England who have been desperately waiting to jump on a spinning bike or dive into a pool. People in Scotland, Wales and Northern Ireland should refer to guidance from the devolved administrations with regards re-opening of swimming pools and indoor sports facilities.
