Gold for Daniel Dixon at European Junior Triathlon Cup in Tiszaujvaros
It was Daniel Dixon (GB) who had most to celebrate after a dominant performance to take Gold at the 2021 European Junior Triathlon Cup in Tiszaujvaros.
The town of Tiszaujvaros, Hungary renowned for its thermal baths was the setting for junior and senior athletes to come together for their respective Europe Triathlon Cup races.
Dixon, is a 3 x British Youth Triathlon Champion, 2 x Super League Youth Triathlon Champion and is also one of only a few athletes to have won a Riga ETU European Cup at the age of just 16. He’s even taken on long-distance triathlon with the Pro’s in Outlaw X 70:30 and came 6th.

There can be no question the young man from Northumberland is on a mission to reach the very top. Fresh from his race at the 2021 Europe Triathlon Sprint Championships Kitzbühel where he won individual silver, Dixon made the perfect start by winning his qualifying heat in the quickest time of all three heats.
Dixon had placed down his marker for the final and no-one could reach it as he put in a performance of true grit and determination of the highest order. His race in the final was an amazing all-round display across all three disciplines. Exiting first from the water with the with a swim time of 00:06:16, then going on to smash the bike course with the quickest time of the race of 00:18:14 and crossing the winning line with a run time of 00:11:21.
This was truly a dominate display by Dixon being ahead at the finish line 24 seconds from second place athlete Gergő Dobi of Hungary and 40 seconds ahead of Elai Izhak Chaski of Israel in third spot.
