GB Dentist caps European Triathlon Championships in crowning glory

A GB dentist capped her triathlon season in crowning glory at the European Triathlon Championship in Spain

Stevie Potter a dentist from Taunton, Somerset, is still celebrating after gaining a top 10 finish at the 2021 European Sprint Distance Triathlon Championships in Valencia held at the beginning of this month. 

The Championships was one of the major events for Age Group racing of the 2021 calendar year. And Stevie Potter a part-time dentist at Bupa Dental Care, Taunton, had been preparing for this one race for the previous six months putting in over 12 hours of training per week for a chance to qualify for next year’s World Triathlon Sprint Championships. 

In the scorching heat of the Mediterranean in the beautiful city of Valencia, Stevie Potter lined up with international competitors for a race consisting of a 750m swim, a 20k bike ride and a 5km run.  Racing on the Valencia Street Circuit that hosted the Formula One European Grand Prix for five years (2008–2012) Stevie Potter revved up her engine and put in a sterling performance crossing the finishing line in 9th place in a time of 01:11:38 

Following her European success in the Age-Group Sprint Championships Stevie Potter has now qualified for the World Triathlon Sprint Championships, the highest level possible for an Age-Group athlete. 

The Championships will be held next year in Montreal during the week 22nd/26th June 2022. 

Stevie Potter openly admits that the support from her employer, Bupa, has given her the flexibility to reach her goal both as a dentist and a triathlete. 

Always aiming high she has recently launched a new business venture called ‘The Wonder Clinic’ which is aiming to empower people to look, feel and perform like the leaders the world needs them to be.
