Commonwealth Games Scotland appoint triathlete as a team manager for Birmingham 2022
Commonwealth Games Scotland have appointed one of the most successful triathletes in Scottish history, Catriona Morrison, as one of 19 team managers for the Birmingham 2022 Commonwealth Games.
Morrison has had a direct and lasting impact on multisport in Scotland. This has not been just because of her remarkable international triathlon success but also because of her unwavering willingness to give freely her time to promote sport in Scotland. In 2015, Catriona Morrison services to sport and voluntary service in Scotland was honoured when she received the third highest ranking Order of the British Empire award – (MBE).
The sports team managers play a vital role creating the best possible environment for athletes and staff to excel at the Games, as well as bringing them all together as one Team Scotland. Morrison, as team manager will now take part in a two-year personalised training and development programme combined modules, online resources and peer learning. The programme, developed by Team Scotland in partnership with First Ascent and SportScotland, will cultivate knowledge, skills, attitudes and behaviours so each manager is highly confident, ready to deliver in their role and able to support athletes to perform to their potential in Birmingham.
Morrisons incredible contribution to triathlon (highlighted below), did not go unrecognised either, as in 2012 she was awarded a Gold Pin by the British Triathlon Federation. This is an award which is given for outstanding service to triathlon. The fact that Morrison received such an award was a measure of the high esteem in which she is held within the triathlon community.
In her role as Team Manager, Morrison will inspire both fellow athletes, coaches and backroom staff with her enthusiastic commitment and determination in building a strong team ethos to enable Scotland’s athletes to perform to their best in 2022.
As a triathlete Morrison first competed for Scotland in 2001 and GB in 2004.
